What is Nethanna Bima Scheme?
The Nethanna Bima initiative was introduced on Sunday by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. On National Handloom Day, the CM sent greetings to the weavers as he introduced the programme. The chief minister claimed that the Telangana administration has been adopting numerous innovative programmes to improve a lot of weavers. Nethanna Bima, a first-of-its-kind programme for weavers, has been launched in the nation, according to the CM. Approximately 80,000 weaving families will be benefitted from this insurance plan.
Benefits of the Nethanna Bima Scheme
The Telangana Nethanna Bima Scheme would offer weavers’ families an Rs. 5 lakh insurance cover in the terrible event that one of the program’s eligible beneficiaries passes away. It will give families of handloom and power loom weavers financial security. The government’s dedication to the well-being of the populace, according to CM KCR, is demonstrated by this programme. The CM continued to poke fun at the federal government, claiming that raising taxes, is destroying the hand- and power-loom industries.

Premium Amount under TS Nethanna Beema Scheme
The Nethanna Beema scheme is a collaboration between the Telangana government and the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India. The nodal organisation for the Nethanna Bima Scheme’s implementation is the Telangana State Department of Handlooms and Textiles. The government will pay the LIC on behalf of the beneficiaries’ annual premiums.
On National Handloom Day, a Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLC said that the state and federal governments have united for the benefit of weavers. He claimed that no government had ever imposed a tax on handlooms, but the Modi administration had done so for the first time. MLC even calls for the central government to decide whether to eliminate the Handloom tax to make the GST zero.
Beneficiaries of the Nethanna Bima Scheme
Currently, there are 1 lakh weavers employed in the handloom and textile sector. Therefore, the state government has agreed to award their nominees with Rs. 5 lakh in the event of their passing. Weaver and recipient of the Padma Shri, Chintakindi Mallesham, thanked Telangana CM KCR for establishing the scheme for the benefit of weavers.
